This is the exact policy and procedure for Wells Fargo.
All new hires will have a criminal background check done. The criminal background is performed by First Advantage. Most, but not all positions also require fingerprints to be submitted for a Federal Criminal History Background Check, this is not done by First Advantage, this is done by the FBI. FBI backgrounds are needed for any job where loan origination is taking place. As with most employers, if you are a convicted felon, you will not get the job.
In addition, jobs like loan originators will have a credit report reviewed to make sure you are not a liability for potential corrupt behavior. That essentially means they dont want to see massive debt in default.
I have never met anyone in Wells Fargo that ever needed to have a drug test while onboarding or while being an active employee.
